About Us

How we started as a fuel supplier

Stoddards began life in 1926 when Percy Stoddard started his coal merchant business from Kingsley Moor. After branching out into taxis, haulage and coaching, in 1966 Percy was awarded a contract from Conoco for fuel distribution in the area, which was managed by his sons, Brian and Malcom.

Growing to deliver fuel in Staffordshire and beyond

Malcom and Brian continued the business, focusing on coaching holidays, day trips and fuel delivery. With changes in fuel composition, Stoddards began to offer fuel additives to improve customers’ fuel efficiency.

We have always prided ourselves on excellent customer service and speedy delivery. Over the years Stoddards has expanded its support, enabling customers to order online and pay via a monthly payment plan. We are also part of the Cold Weather Priority Scheme, ensuring our most vulnerable customers receive their fuel quickly.

Stoddards today

We remain a family-run and community-focussed fuel delivery business. Today Stoddards is run by Percy’s grandchildren: Judith, Peter and Paul, with great grandchildren also working in the company.

We have a varied fleet of vehicles that enables us to provide bulk deliveries and reach areas with restricted access. Stoddards’ professional drivers deliver fuel six days a week across Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. Our emergency fuel delivery service means we’re always available to help our clients.

As well as supplying fuel in Staffordshire and its neighbouring counties, Stoddards now offers fuel tanks, additives, and Morris Lubricants. We have always kept one eye on the future, so we are also looking into alternative fuels.

We believe in keeping strong connections with our community. As local fuel delivery suppliers based in Cheadle, Stoke-on-Trent, we’re proud to play an active part in the surrounding community. For a number of years we have supported local clubs, teams and events. We currently sponsor Oakamoor Cricket Club, Cheadle Cricket Club and Cheadle Running Club, as well as local events like Wincle Trout Run.
