Wincle Trout Run 2024 – A Fantastic Day for All!
We were thrilled to be part of the Wincle Trout Run once again this year, held on 8th June 2024 at Tolls Farm. As always, it was an incredible event filled with fun, community spirit, and, of course, the unique race that brings together runners of all ages. This year’s run featured the famous river crossing and challenging fell paths around the picturesque Dane Valley, and every runner who finished received the iconic Wincle trout!
A Day to Remember
The Wincle Fete kicked off with a fantastic lineup of activities. From dog shows and sheep shearing demonstrations to traditional country dancing and live music by Basin Street Jazz & Blues, there was something for everyone. Families gathered for children’s games, races, and the ever-popular bouncy castle.
Food stalls were a huge hit, offering home-made cakes, jams, and savory treats, while the BBQ and real dairy ice cream kept everyone refreshed. The day wouldn’t be complete without the exciting grand raffle, which offered incredible prizes and plenty of smiles.
The Races
The highlight of the day, the Wincle Trout Run, saw a full turnout of participants, young and old. The junior race, a 3km fell race through the River Dane, was a great introduction to the sport for runners aged 11 to 16. With the event fully booked, the energy at the start line was palpable.
Looking Ahead to 2025!
If you missed out this year, don’t worry—plans are already in motion for the 2025 Wincle Trout Run, scheduled for 14th June at Mellor Knoll Farm. Next year promises to be even bigger and better, with more fun, more challenges, and, of course, more trout! We highly encourage all aspiring runners—especially youngsters—to participate in the junior race. It’s an unforgettable experience that brings the community together and introduces you to the thrill of fell running.
